Quedgeley parish councillor and active campaigner for Gloucester Labour Party, Barry Kirby, writes a very interesting and regularly updated blog called The Murmurings of Barry Kirby.

In his latest blog entry, Barry responds to a comment posted in relation to an article published on thisisgloucestershire.co.uk recently, titled County's budget to see £2.3m cut to children and families service.

Reader, Shireresident, commented: "I wonder why anyone puts up for election these days. After all, what can councillors do in the face of central government cuts?"

Barry has responded in his blog, explaining his reasons for standing to be elected as a county councillor. It makes very interesting reading...
