SCOTT Redding’s woes continued as he was again unable to finish the race at the Moto2 eni Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland at Sachsenring in Germany.
The 17-year-old from Quedgeley, who was unable to finish the previous race of the Moto2 series in Barcelona two weeks ago, saw his race end on the 11th lap in Germany.
After qualifying in a respectable 15th place on the grid, Redding had made terrific progress through the field during the opening laps.
By the start of the fifth circuit he had risen seven place to eighth, less than ten seconds off the race lead.
However despite looking on course to claim a position in the points, his race ended midway through the 11th lap when sitting in tenth position.
The race was won by Toni Elias of Spain, with Italian riders Andrea Iannone and Roberto Rolfo rounding off the podium in second and third place respectively.
The win takes Elias to the top of the World Rankings with 111 points from the eight races so far this season.
A second finish outside of the points sees Redding slip one place to 14th in the rankings with 23 points ahead of next week’s Red Bull US Grand Prix on the infamous Mazda Raceway at Luguna Seca.
