PAINSWICK U-12s 8 QUEDGELEY WAND U-12s 4

PAINSWICK have a lot to live up to this year, with their predecessors having won the title for the past two years.

They won this thriller thanks to four goals by Dominic Perris and further strikes by Sid Fawcett (2), Blake Peacey and Ben Shill.

Painswick had blistering pace in attack and at times the football was flowing, giving them much possession.

Quedgeley defended in numbers and early on the Dragons could not find the net.

Eventually Sid Fawcett beat one player on the edge of the box and fired home hard and low into the left hand corner.

As the end of the first half approached the scores were levelled when, in their eagerness to protect the goal, three defenders crowded out the keeper and the ball deflected in to give Tom Price no chance.

A quick reply came when Fawcett played a great pass out wide to Dominic Perris, who fired in from an impossible angle to make the score 2-1 at half time.

The home side totally dominated the second period, despite spirited opposition.

Painswick are looking for more youth players and coaching assistant volunteers.

Anyone aged eight to 13 is welcome.

Training is held every Thursday at the recreation ground in the centre of Painswick.

Under-eight and under-nine sessions run from 6pm to 7pm, with under-10, under-11, under-12 and under-13 age groups run from 7pm to 8pm.

The club are also hoping to get a regular training slot for an under-14 or under-15 girls team if there is enough interest.
