I agree Stephen I think that it is not a very nice sight to see if you were new to Quedgeley and would leave a horrible impression of an otherwise lovely village. I think cameras would be the perfect solution for this sort of vandalism in an ideal world however unfortunately with all the cuts and job losses that are being rolled out across the country I just don’t think there is any money for this sort of project. I think that ultimately the bus stop will soon become one that doesn’t have any sides just has a roof, which unfortunately means that people that have done nothing wrong will lose out on rainy and wet days but is really the only feasible way of stopping damage at the bus stop without spending much money. This will stop the damage but unfortunately I am sure that the vandals will soon find something else to destroy.

    Morning Emma,

The points you raise are equally issues which should be taken into account too. I would suggest cameras in each bus shelter (although in London and it's surrounds most of them do have cameras in each shelter beyond an electronic live bus time table feed showing you if you have just missed a bus, and how long before the next bus arrives) perhaps cameras which cover a wider section-by-section of the areas of concern - this would not just provide viewable evidence of shelters but other public property too. The issue surrounding Big Brother always springs to life... usually this repeated argument comes from those who don't want their behaviour being stopped or them being caught in the act (not a comment toward yourself of course Emma) I always say... if your not doing anything wrong - then surely you have nothing to be worried about when it comes to the cameras! We all want a better environment around us, and whatever tools we can use in the task of achieving this, we should use them. The cameras used today can focus on more than just a clear facial image - they note the clothing in detail, build of the person and their mannerisms which can be recognised by others to have a better idea of who that person is beyond their attempts in covering their faces . Accepting it's a difficult subject which requires considerable thought collectively in finding the best way forward without destroying the image of the community we are trying to protect in the first place. The main issue is not leaving it completely because the only image that will be seen is what you see above, and who wants views like that as a welcome to Quedgeley!

I like the idea of making the criminals help to sort out the problem that they themselves caused this would make them appreciate that somebody has to clean up after them and might make them think twice about causing the damage in the first place. However the problem we have here is finding out the identity of the person causing the damage, I like the idea of cameras however it would require a lot of cameras throughout Quedgeley creating a 'big brother' kind of community and with hoodies, balaclavas and snoods being so popular amongst criminals it could be hard to recognise the criminals even if we had the deed on camera.

    Evening Alan,

Your added ideas, which I agree are very helpful tools in tackling such concerns, should be something which can be considered as part of the solution. Hopefully, more ideas like these can be collated and considered within the community so we can equally take part in finding ways which will assist with addressing ASB, and or criminal damage, and would then provide us all with the environment we feel more happier, comfortable & safe in!

How about more camera's put in by whoever has to pay for the bus shelters. I for one am happy with cameras and they have been of great use in some recent high profile missing persons cases. they can then be reviewed as and when damage occurs
