Originally just a small pre-school Little Meadows soon become very popular in Quedgeley as more and more young families took advantage of the ever needed service, which has meant that they needed a permanent home.

After a £7.3 million grant from the Government throughout the County last year they have now been able to have a purpose built pre-school building specifically for their needs.

The building includes two large play rooms, kitchens, reception, office, sensory room and a fantastic outdoor play area accessed through fold back screens.

Unique design features include a ‘mouse hole’ in the skirting boards and a ‘Meadowside Murual’ which the children enjoyed helping to create.

This building has meant that the pre-school has been able to increase the number of places on offer to 40 per session from 26, with two sessions a day.

As the Government offer 15 hours free nursery a week for three and four years olds this pre-school was essential for Gloucestershire to be able to meet this target.

Little Meadows will be officially opened by Ian Mead, Gloucestershire Media editor-in Chief. Jackie Hall will also be present along with all the families who are invited.

The opening of the pre-school also coincides with the groups 10th birthday so there has been a balloon release planned to commemorate this occasion and there has also been a cake donated.

I hope that all attend this event have a lovely day and I am glad that this much deserved group have now got a building which they are happy with.

It is nice to see how some people are really working hard to make Quedgeley a nicer place to live for all. As Quedgeley has a lot of young families that will benefit from this pre-school it definitly is a much needed facility in Quedgeley and like you say Chrischatt I imagine that a lot of people have worked very hard to make this a reality. Well done to everyone for their hard work and I hope that the kids love their new building.

As the Chair of Little Meadows, I would just like to say proud I am of the incredible work of a huge number of people that has made this possible. We now have a building that fully meets the needs of the children and it is a joy to go in every day and see how much the Group has benefitted from this development. I also want to pay tribute to our amazing staff who have been brilliant through all the changes and moves. Next Wednesday should be an excellent day and we are all looking forward to it.
