I agree Alan! Its a shame that we have this lovely walk along side the Canal which is perfect for a nice evening walk or bike ride yet we cant make the most of it as it is overgrown. This area is so over grown that you cant even get past and the rest of the path is slowly getting there with branches and plants hanging down over the path or creeping out on to the path which can be a hazard for youngsters on their bikes. Come on Council get a move on before the weather turns bad again and we cant make the most of the Canal Path.
Well, the City Council will not do anything about it unless it is "dangerous or a legal issue", therefore the only way it woudl get done is if we as residents do something ourselves.
Who would be willing to put in some effort for say a weekend to help clear it? I think it would be a cool community activity, if we can get a team of us together, everyone bring a tool and a flask of coffee. We woudl need support in getting rid of the cleared material, but i'm sure that it could be done.
Who would be up for that?

Good suggestion Barry I will take my secateurs out when I walk the dog and get rid of the worst of it. I can do that on my own in the worst places and at least make them passable. I would however suggest that it is the councils responsibility in the same way it is theirs to cut the verges etc, this is a purpose built path on which they empty the dog bins, it has padlocked bollard-ed access and they have cut it back before so it must be their responsibility. As I say though I will do the worst of it and I can dispose of the waste safely in the undergrowth.
Brilliant :)
Though I would still like to look at some sort of community 'work day' to look at bits of the community, I think we could make a real difference,

Hi Barry, have you seen the article on the Quedgeley Community walk, it is on this site. Not sure if links will work but try this http://tinyurl.com/3qhom4y
There is a walk being organised to look at things that need doing in quedgeley
There is also going to be a community litter picking day in Quedgeley on August 11th. See this website for more details http://tinyurl.com/6369x45 The success of this event will again depend on volunteers. However having just looked at the calender it seems to be on a Monday which will make it hard for some people to get involved due to work.
