Treats from home for the troops... Local mum, Tiz Taylor has been busy. Over the last 3 months she has been the driving force behind the dispatch of more than 30 welfare packs to soldiers serving in the Helmand Province. Inspired by her son Ben, who is serving in Afghanistan, and with support from her employer, St James' Doctors Surgery (and their sister surgery, the Pavilion Family Doctors), she has been collecting these "treats from home" for the troops since April and has been amazed by the generosity and support from the community. The girls at the local post office have been huge supporters of the campaign by compiling the packs - made up of hard-to-get-in-Afghanistan items like toiletries, tinned goods and biscuits - before weighing them (parcels under 2kg to the troops are free) and sending them off. And there are more ready to go! Great to hear about our local community proudly supporting our troops overseas...
