Travellers could set up camp for good in Quedgeley due to eviction rules.

There is growing concern in Kingsway that Travellers could park up camp for good on a road between Naas Lane and Woodvale.
Due to the road not being adopted it is not controlled by the Council and is still the responsibility of the landowner which in this case is the Developer, Quedgeley Urban Village Ltd.
The Council will not adopt the road as there is still currently construction being done and the large construction vehicles are likely to damage the roads.
This is the second time in six months that Travellers have set up here and Quedgeley Urban Village has said that they will always deal with the matter in a robust way.
The travellers moved on in less than 24 hours and were spoken to by the developers a number of times.
However there are different powers available to private land owners than the Council and Local Authorities.
This is the reason that people are urging the Council to adopt the road so that the proper authorities will have the control to remove them if necessary.
Quedgeley has always had its problems with Travellers.
Over the years they have set up camp in many places including Dimore II field on many occasions always leaving it in a complete mess when they finally do get moved on.
More recently the Travellers camped by Junction 12 of the Motorway have been served with an eviction notice by the Highways Agency and they must be gone by the end of this week.

Yes I remember the few times that they camped on the Dimore II fields and left it a complete state. We used to play over there as kids but when the Travellers had been we weren't allowed over there until all of their mess had been cleared as god knows what had been left strewn everywhere. It's disgusting.

ReportThe trouble with travellers is they always leave a mess and expect someone else to pick up the bill for clearing up. I fail to see why they cant just book onto a campsite and pay £15 a night like everyone else who has a caravan. It's not like they can't afford it.
