A controversial camera at an underpass in Quedgeley is still catching on average 50 drivers a week.

Quedgeley Underpass where the camera is situated.
The camera is situated at the underpass which joins Kingsway and Quedgeley behind Matalan.
The camera has been active since April this year.
Many residents have complained about the camera as to get from Quedgeley from Kingsway residents have to drive along the A38 yet if the underpass was open to the public it would cut this journey by 5 minutes.
The underpass is currently only allowed to be used by taxi's, buses, emergency services, cyclists and pedestrians.
The fine for driving through the underpass is £60 which is reduced to £30 if it is paid within the first 14 days.
Since the camera has been active a total of 1,105 motorists have been fined.
At least £33, 000 has been made by the Council through fines from the camera.
The number of drivers getting caught is decreasing: May, which was the first full month the camera was operating saw just over 11 drivers a day caught and by July it had decreased to 7 drivers a day.

I have to agree! It is clearly signposted and it is a hi-tech camera so you cant just sneak past it. People are just wasting money driving through it. People will learn though hopefully. I do however understand why people get annoyed as it is a long way round to Kingsway.

ReportIts not as if its not sign posted, if you don't want a fine don't break the law however silly it may seem.
