For those of you who have yet to make plans for the forthcoming hogmanay, Quedgeley People has compiled this comprehensive New Year's Eve 'what's on' guide to help you decide.

Remember that some events may require pre-booking, so make sure you check availability before the big night to avoid disappointment.

Also, make sure you know how you're getting home. If you're going out in a group, perhaps you could agree upon a designated driver. But if you all fancy a drink and the venue is not within walking distance of home, ensure you have a taxi booked in advance. It is almost impossible to hail a cab on New Year's Eve, so be prepared!

The Wurzels at Hempsted Meadows GL2 5GA

Never mind Champagne, what you need to bring in the New Year in style is a pint or seven of scrumpy.

West Country rascals The Wurzels are ringing in 2013 at an event at Hempsted Meadows on New Year's Eve.

Their 'Ooh What A Night' party will see a 1,000-seater marquee spring up with the neckerchiefed lads taking centre stage.

Expect all their classic tracks, with Combine Harvester and I Am A Cider Drinker set to top the party night bill.

More of a rock 'n' roller than a folky joe? The King is also in the house. Elvis and Tom Jones tribute act, Steve Marks, promises a slice of American rock and Welsh pop to the evening which starts at 7pm.

There's a hog roast, welcome drink and complimentary bottles of bubbly as the clock strikes midnight.

Tickets cost £35 on 07971 399099.

* Hempsted Meadows is off the new length of bypass at Hempsted, about one-and-a-half miles to the south of the city centre.
