Kingsway is set to get another Primary

school by 2013 as increasing development has pushed up the need of Primary

School places and this will continue to rise.

The new school is planned to be able to

take 210 pupils and is also planned to be in a different area of the

development from Kingsway Primary School.

Developers Quedgeley Urban Village Ltd are

paying for the school as when they originally developed Kingsway they agreed to

provide two schools for the area.

Kingsway Primary School opened in 2008 with

four classes but an expansion is planned so that it will have 14 classes by

2012 bringing its pupil capacity up to 420.

However it is predicted that there could be

up to 500 primary school aged children in the area by 2013 and this is why the

second school will be needed.

With these figures in mind the Council have

informed the developers of the need for the second school which they have

agreed to get ready for September 2013.
