John McCririck set to be back at races for Gold Cup day

Veteran racing pundit John McCririck is said to be "comfortable" in hospital and plans to return to Cheltenham Festival tomorrow for Gold Cup Day.

The 72-year-old former Channel 4 presenter complained of feeling unwell during the first day of the Festival on Tuesday and was taken to Cheltenham General Hospital by ambulance, where he remained overnight for further observation.

His wife, Jenny McCririck, cited the stress from an ongoing disagreement with former employer Channel 4 as the cause of his collapse. 

Channel 4 dropped McCririck from its racing coverage in January this year after unveiling its new presenting team, headed by Clare Balding. Accusing the broadcaster of ageism, McCririck announced his intent to sue the channel for £3m.
