Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman died following a collision in Hempsted yesterday morning.

A blue Daihatsu Sirion driven by a 65-year-old local woman collided with a tree near the junction of St Swithuns Road and Rea Lane at around 9.40am.

An off-duty paramedic and members of the public assisted in performing first aid at the scene.

The fire and ambulance services attended and the woman was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital where she sadly died.

The road was closed for several hours while a collision investigation took place.

Officers are appealing for anyone who saw the vehicle being driven prior to the collision, or witnessed the collision itself, to call 101 quoting incident 122 of March 13.
