Police are appealing for witnesses after an armed robbery at a bookmakers in Tuffley yesterday evening.

Two men entered the shop in Holmleigh Parade at about 8.50pm. While one man stood at the door, the other, who was carrying a 'JD' drawstring bag over his shoulder, jumped over the counter and held what is described as a 'gun-shaped object' in a bag at the cashier and demanded money.

The men, who were both wearing dark clothing, made off with several hundred pounds.

Police are urging anybody who thinks they may have witnessed these men in the area around the time of the incident, or may have information about this crime that could help their investigation, to call 101 quoting incident 437 of February 11.

Alternatively, information can be given anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, or via the charity's website.

In some cases Crimestoppers may offer a reward of up to £1,000 where information leads to a conviction.
