COLLECTING 24,000 bags of donations is something worth celebrating for a charity sorting centre in Quedgeley.
thank you: From left to right; Rita Leach, Jan McAllan, Cynthia German, manager Laura Perry, Lana Parkin, deputy manager Anthony Boreham, Robet Wright, Denise Holder, and Eve Burgess.
Children's charity Barnardo's opened its facility at Severn Vale shopping centre last February.
It has proven popular with people donating clothes, books, toys, games and good quality furniture.
Volunteers from teenagers to pensioners donated 3,300 hours to help with sorting the year's donations. The team enjoyed a well-earned break to celebrate their efforts.
Barnardo's shop manager Laura Parry said: "The donation station was officially opened by Dr David Barnardo, the great-great-nephew of the charity's founder Dr Thomas Barnardo, last April, but we were actually trading from February.
"We wanted to celebrate our first anniversary by arranging a special thank you for all of the team who have worked so hard to support the charity.
"It is thanks to their dedication that we have been able to achieve so much."
The donation centre is open Monday to Saturday, from 9am until 6pm, and Sundays, from 10am until 4pm.
