Burglary in Quedgeley - Time to think about home security

A Quedgeley house in Silver Birch Close was burgled on October 9th with property of around £2,500 taken.
Items taken from the house, which was broken into sometime between 10.30pm and 6.50am, included a laptop, Playstation 3 and a Wii.
With the nights getting darker earlier and many houses starting their Christmas shopping now is a very popular time for Burglary's.
Now the winter is getting colder it is less likely you will leave a window open during the night but still always make sure that windows are shut, locked as well if you can, and the doors including the back door or garage door are locked.
Having a security light that turns on when it detects movement is another good deterrent for burglars.
Also keep an eye out for each other in your communities, if you see something suspicious going on in one of your neighbour's house then ring the police or if you're going away for the night see if your neighbour would mind keeping an eye on your house every few hours.
The best way to ensure that your house is safe is to have an alarm fitted.
Home Alarms Glos Ltd is a well-known local company that specialise in fitting home alarms.
Most of these points seem like common sense but Burglarys are increasing all of the time and although Quedgeley is a small and relatively quiet area it is still important to be careful when it comes to home security.
